Hello SBIA members and welcome to 2024, which represents the 100 year anniversary of the Shady Beach subdivision! (Please note I did not say SBIA.) With the new year, we are looking forward to celebrating this special milestone in our planned events.
During our General Membership meeting on January 15th we covered the below topics.
- Discussed Annual Dues and approved the below new amounts for 2024:
- Annual Membership Dues: $300 Only $25/month!
- Dock Rental Annual Fee: $325
- Day Launch Users Annual Fee: $250
- Sublet Fee, will now be due at beginning of sublet term: $100 per month
- Non-SBIA lakefront/riparian property owner seasonal launch fee: $100
- Pavilion rental: $75
- Discussed and approved our budget for 2024 and increased the budget for the below special line items:
- Property improvements: $10,000 (this is earmarked for beach landscape improvements)
- Social Events: $5,000 (an additional $2,500 was added for our 100 year celebration)
- Discussed and identified planned and new social events, associated budgets and tentative dates

- Discussed our Master Plan & next steps
- We are struggling to get quotes for the bathroom project at the beach pavilion and landscape project for the marina.
- Discussed our Master Plan & next steps
- If you can refer reliable contractors for this work, please let us know.
- Our intended next steps are to get these two quotes; develop a 5 & 7 year annual property improvement fee to fund these projects, and then put the cost and funding out to our members via a survey and in a General Membership meeting to determine next steps.
- We received a very high quote for redoing the basketball court into a multipurpose basketball and pickleball court.
- Now that we are seeing new pickleball courts for public and private use within 15 minutes, we are suspending any more work in this regard to focus on the above two top improvement projects.

- The Fun Committee is looking to have a Sledding Party at the Park in February. To be announced separately.
- The Boat Chairman has two boat docks that will be available this Spring. An assignment meeting will likely take place in March.
