Shady Beach 100 Year Anniversary Party – August 17th!

Planning has begun for our 100 Year Celebration Event! It is now officially scheduled for Saturday, August 17th.

We have had a couple of good discussions at the last couple of general membership meetings.  We are making progress but need more resident participation.

Tentative Agenda:

10am – 2pm: Family/Children’s Carnival (bounce house, face painting, magician)

4pm – 5pm:  Oral History of Shady Beach/Orchard/Upper Straits Lake

7pm – SBIA All Members Group Picture

7pm – 8pm:  DJ – Musical Tour Through the past 100 years

8pm – 10pm – DJ – Dance Party

We are looking for more volunteers to help with this event!

  1. Family Children’s daytime events.  Thanks to Eric and  Jessica Cohen who have volunteered to lead this portion.
  2. Shady Beach History – the written and oral history of our subdivision and Orchard Lake.  We’ll look to assemble photo boards through the years, and identify those who want to speak about this very special place and the people that have influenced it through the years.
    1. We are looking for volunteers to help organize this and assemble the picture boards, articles and special speakers.
    2. If you have any info, stories, pictures or suggestions to share, please send to [email protected] and join in the conversation at our next general membership meeting on May 13.
  3.  Dan Chester has designed a 100 year commemorative t-shirt and hat for fundraiser to help cover some event costs.  Thanks Dan!
  4.  For evening entertainment, we are looking for a great DJ or Band who can help us get our groove on and dance the night away.   We need suggestions.
  5.  Food truck(s).  We need help finding a great vendor.
